Audiology

My passion and the future of audiology?!?

A few months ago, I had the privilege of being interviewed by Sami from Rock It Out! Blog It was chance to talk about all my audiology passions including music, the future, earphones, and also telecoil.  For all of you that have not seen it yet, I hope you enjoy the interview!  Marie’s interview

Rock It Out! Blog is part of Consequence of Sound.  Consequence of Sound (CoS) is a Chicago-based online music publication devoted to the ever growing and always thriving worldwide music scene that has been around since 2007.  It is a great publication for music and concert reviews not only in Chicago.  It is always great to collaborate with online publications in a unique way so that different interests can be discussed in an educational way!

This interview came as a result of a man implanting telecoils into his ears so that he could hear his music wirelessly.  Telecoils are actually in many hearing aids and can be used to hear better on the telephone but also in public places with a loop.  A loop provides a chance for the sound to go directly to the patient’s hearing aids via the push of a button.  The hearing aid uses electromagnetic transduction instead of the traditional hearing aid microphone.  This feature and the idea of the loop is gaining more popularity in the US.  Places such as the NYC subway system and many theatres already have this feature installed.  It is important for patient’s to ask about this feature when getting hearing aids and learning more about it.

Thanks Rock It Out! Blog for this unique interview and a chance to marry my two passions of music and audiology together!
